the current situation
Collex — the software system that supports faceted browsing, collection-building, user annotation, and collaboration in NINES — now contains more than 175,0000 digital objects and is ready for public use!
In Fall 2007, we will release an integrated "exhibit builder" for Collex, allowing you to remix your NINES collections into annotated bibliographies, course syllabi, illustrated essays, and timelines — and to share them informally with students and colleagues, or ultimately submit them for peer review and formal inclusion in NINES.

moving forward
The NINES editorial boards continue to refine peer review procedures and solicit new resources. (See "submissions and review.") If you administer an existing online collection and would like to contribute freely-accessible online resources in nineteenth-century studies for peer review and possible inclusion in the NINES pilot, please contact us at inquiries@nines.org. You can also reach the heads of our editorial boards at american@nines.org, romantic@nines.org, or victorian@nines.org. Scholars initiating digital projects in nineteenth-century studies may be interested in our summer workshop series.
Everyday users of NINES are also important contributors to the project. We encourage you to create a Collex account which will let you collect, tag, and annotate digital objects you locate in NINES as part of your own research. The tags you apply to objects in your personal collections then become part of the Collex system, helping other users locate and re-purpose scholarly materials.
