The British Library has recently put up a gallery of posters from 'Freak Shows,' advertising giants and little people, mermaids and Siamese twins. It's a great glimpse into the visual culture of the nineteenth century.

In related news, NINES has added a new resource from Adam Matthew Digital, called Victorian Popular Culture. If your institution subscribes to the resource, you'll find all sorts of fascinating books, pamphlets and posters dealing with spiritualism, magic and other Victorian leisure activities. All users of NINES can search this resource, so even if you don't have full access, you can get a sense of the collection by clicking on this link.
